Once upon a literary wager
Theodor Seuss Geisel, loved as Dr. Seuss, won a bet from his editor when he published Green Eggs and Ham in 1960.
It’s true!
Dr. Seuss had previously penned The Cat In The Hat, using 225 words when his publisher bet him he couldn’t possibly write a book using fewer. He used 50.
Fifty unique words became a literary classic, inspired celebrity chefs far and wide, and became one of the one thousand most purchased books in history. It was even featured on the senate floor when Ted Cruz read it during a filibuster.
That’s something to really ponder...sometimes less really is more.
So, I’ll end this brief post with a challenge...to reduce the volume of a project to its very essence. Sometimes less can lead to something really great.
